I have done the final detail work for the various bits like glass etc. and the belt feed to the drone guns. Kept it to a relative minimum as this was maily a weathering thing to start off with.
I put on a final flat coat of varnish and again, disaster struck again! The varnish made the model a weird pearlescent milky colour…Now I have read somewhere that certain varnishes can be affected by humidity etc. so I will blame that.
I have managed to pull it around again, by going over it with some gloss varnish and it must have interacted with the matte, as it went ok again.
I think this may have been a cursed build in some respects, but glad am able to see certain things now and more importantly, find ways around them.
I am working on a base right now for this, so will post as soon as I have some images!

Just wanted to post that I have done the transfers overnight and waited for them to set. I painted on some localised areas of varnish to give the transfer a better bedding in. Then used regular waterslide transfers with a little ‘klear’ to help set it.
Have intentionally not used any sept markings here as they weren’t looking that convincing to me. I can post rationalise it by saying that all Tau vehicles are electronically marked or are marked in a paint on a different frequency to human vision etc. but there are some markings for human maintenance crew to follow, that sort of thing…

Next step is Klear all over, then leave for a day or so to set. Then onto some panel modulation and oil washes.

Thought I would try my hand at using the airbrush I bought off amazon a few months back. Never having used one in my life I decided that since I had a spare devilfish hanging around, I thought I may as well get some practice in. Continue reading
