Hi all, well figured it was high time that I posted a little progress on this bad boy, so here goes!
Have more or less completed the Sternguard Sergeant model (did I mention that’s what he was?). All the elements are in place and I am happy with how he turned out, he was after all the test piece for the process for the rest of the squad and ultimatley the army too.
Made a few small tweaks, namely his box fed bolter feels a little more sternguard to me, and I added some rivets here and there to try and get back to the more gothic/imperial feel. I think Marines have drifted away from this, so wanted to just bring that back a little. I will also be adding a healthy number of purity seals and scrolls too.

The rivets I used for the pauldrons were some of the amazing pieces you can buy from www.scalehardware.com, check these guys out they are amazing! The round head rivets are the 0.4mm brass ones, and they are damned small! They ship very fast too, so even in the UK, they took about 3days to turn up! NICE!
So have also made a start on the rest of the fireteam. The most time consuming part is the putty work for the terminator legs, and then after that, the clean up. For the next two guys, am going to alter stance a little as the termies only come in two or three poses, gets a little samey already!

Anyway guys, would love to have any comments etc. so please feel free!

Hi all, a little more progress here. Have put some rivets onto the gorget and did a little work on the bolter. Mainly just getting rid of the flash lines (which are quite considerable I might add). So I just made a few tweaks to it as getting the barrels back to round are a real pain, so I just replaced with some alu. tube I had and drilled out the vents.

Cleaned up his head a little and added the bb for the bionic eye to make it a little more spherical. I need to add an ear to this one and then should be done. Was considering adding some hair too, as the model overall is a little vanilla right now.

Probably a good thing as I don’t really know what chapter these guys are going to be as yet. I am leaning toward my own chapter, most likely in bronze as I fancy having a go at some convincing aged bronze. But will have to see. I also fancy doing the Imperial Fists chapter, a good opportunity for some nice weathering in there… They will have some custom shoulder pads done either way. I am also really fancying a dreadnought…

Afternoon all, got some work done last night on the Sergeant for my true scale marine project.
I have redone the gorget part of the armour as when I was clearing out that section with my dremmell, it kind of slipped…oops! I think the new one adds a little character tho, needs some rivets to complete.
I also added a maglock collar to the inside of the suit as he will be holding onto the helmet. He will be the only one in the squad to have a bare head, so that will mark him out from the rest of the squad a little more.
I gave him a power fist, one of the reasons for this being that a) I don’t have the codex, so I don’t really know what load out they can have and b) The last marines that I had were the classic RTB01 set from years ago, that seemed to feature a lot of sergeants with powerfists.
I have altered the powerfist slightly to look like it is gripping the helmet properly, that involved slicing off the thumb and repositioning and bending (carefully) some of the fingers. Needs a little clean-up but looks effective I think.
Anyway, here are some pics:

Morning all… So, after being happy with the previous days work, I took another look at the proportions of the model in the photographs and decided that the torso section was looking a little skewed and a little ‘wallace and gromits wrong trousers’.
So after speaking with a few guys from wip and getting great advice, decided to add a little more bulk to the torso by inserting a shim of 0.75mm plasticard between the torso sections. these have to be shaved flat first, but a straightforward alteration. I like the extra weight it adds and looks great on the profile, it also allows me to sit the heads/helmets a little further back to add to the feel. I also added the same to the already built up waist section.
To combat the feeling of space created between the 2 halves, I have added some height to the hip plates that brings the line of the waist up into the lower torso and blends it all together I think.

Hi all, been an age since I last posted anything. Have been busy with other things with my family and friends and having a great time too I might add!
My attention has kind of wandered away from my battle sister build, but I know that this is only natural for me as I find that I do things as and when they inspire, so don’t panic, the sister is not forgotten.
My next project that I want to get my teeth into, is having a go at some ‘true scale marines’. If your’e not familiar with the concept, I will try to give you the low down.
The scale of the current and indeed all of the space marine models has been a little small when compared to both the fluff and the rest of the model ranges. In particular, when one puts a regular marine next to a plastic cadian, they are actually the same height. Now as you know, astartes tend to be around 7.5 - 8 feet tall.
Now, I have never had a marine army, and as already mentioned, I don’t actually play 40k, but I really fancied doing a small marine force as you can get the points up there to compete without having loads of models. No idea about what I want in there yet, but I will come up with a list at some point. I also like the idea of drop pods!
So, having read a little about this from talented guys out there like Doghouse, I got hold of some tactical marines and some terminators, thanks ebay!
I have cut and sliced my way to this point, and just wanted some feedback about how everyone felt about the scale.

Would love to know what you think?!
