Double Eagle – Painted
First coats going on. I used my Citadel spray gun for this paint job as I didn’t have a regular airbrush at this point.
The eagle wings were a little too light on this first pass and I had already taken off the masking frisk, so had to recut and spray again with a lighter shade:
After masking and spraying the squad colors to the tail and various other areas, I started on the basic weathering. I set out with the intention that this plane was going to be toward the end of the campaign on Enothis, shortly before the final offensive by the Arch Enemy.
So with the birds flying non stop sorties, they weren’t getting much from the ground crew by way of touch ups and care. I may have gone overboard with the weathering, but was my first try really.
After these, the varnish then onto the oil washes for the first time ever at this point.
They were ok and was a little weird using something other than water to dilute the paint with. I think in hindsight, that I maybe went a little too fay with the washes and have lost a little ‘pop’ on the model, but hey, live and learn.
The shots above show some of the waterslide transfers I made from the special paper that you can pick up. The kill markings and the squad markings I did in photoshop, the company tail badge wsa a redraw in photoshop from a graphic I found on the Lexicanum website.
